Certificate of Eligibility

Before applying for a student visa in your own country, you need to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) through our institution.

How to Apply

  1. Submit the online application form and the other related forms.
  2. Pay the application fee. (20,000 yen)
  3. When the application is approved by Tokyo Immigration, Certificate of Eligibility is sent to our school and we issue the course invoice.
  4. Upon confirmation of the payment, we send you the Certificate of Eligibility.
  5. Submit visa application along with the Certificate of Eligibility to any Japanese Embassy or Consulate located abroad.

Refund procedure for student visa holders only

  • In any case, the application fee is non-refundable.
  • In the case of a cancellation after the issuance of the COE, a 50,000 yen cancellation fee will be charged and the remaining amount will be refunded upon return of the documents you may have received from us. If you already applied for the student visa and obtained it, we will also need a proof of cancellation of this visa.
  • In the case of the rejection of your student visa application, upon receiving proof of this rejection and the return of the documents you may have received from us, the admission and tuition fees will be refunded in full.
  • In the case of a mid-term cancellation, application and admission fees are non-refundable. 20% of the remaining tuition fee (up to 50,000 yen) will be charged as a cancellation fee and the remaining amount will be refunded upon proof of cancellation of your student visa.

How to Make a Payment

Shibuya Gaigo Gakuin has partnered with Flywire to streamline international payment process for our students. With Flywire, you can pay online, securely from any country and any bank, typically in your home currency.

  • At below, enter your payment amount and country of origin, then click CONTINUE TO FLYWIRE. You will be redirected to Flywire website. Or, just go to
  • Select payment method and create (or login to) your Flywire account, then enter some basic information to initiate your payment 

  • Follow instructions to send payment funds to Flywire. For debit/credit card payments, enter your card details online to complete your payment in your home currency. (Additional local payment options may be available depending on the country you are paying from.) 

  • Track your payment any time by logging into your Flywire account. Receive text and email status updates each step of the way, including a confirmation when your payment has been delivered to your institution
